Why is Life-Centered Design important?
As we prioritize environmental and social issues, we need design frameworks that reconnect us with nature and community. Life-Centered Design fosters innovation with ecological awareness and amplifies the voices of those often overlooked in our design work.
πΏ Design beyond endless growth: Design should prioritise sustainability over endless growth. By using our creative skills to restore nature and communities, we can create a lasting positive impact
π Understanding the Ecosystem: System mapping reveals the overlooked needs of nature and invisible communities, providing a foundation for empathetic and conscientious design.
π‘ Designing for Positive Impact: Incorporating nature's voices into your work enables you to create designs and businesses that have a positive environmental impact, tackling climate change, social injustice, and other pressing issues.
π¦ Become a stronger designer: Mastering Life-Centered Design enhances your resilience as a creative professional and connects you with a passionate community. Youβll gain perspective on design methods and become a more confident designer with clear direction.

Whatβs inside
We have crafted four modules for you, each comprising 14 lessons. We curated 5 years of research and conversations with designers, indigenous leaders, change-makers, and educators from all over the world into a package full of knowledge, exercises, reflection, and fun.
1- Change your Mindset
Design is not just fast-paced and single-user oriented. Practising a slower, more considered pace of creating helps you to include multiple actors and their perspectives. You will learn how to adapt your mindset and way of working to design with nature and invisible communities in mind.. πΏπ
2- Life-Centered Design
Learn how to create value for all life forms with Life-Centered Design (LCD). In this module, we'll explain what Life-Centred Design is all about. We guide you through our framework, the LCD Landscape, space by space. We help you reflect on how you can apply the elements from the methods and exercises to your daily work. π±π
3- Our water bottle exercise
You'll learn best with something tangible & relatable. A thing you can experiment with at your kitchen counter or office desk. That is why we created the water bottle exercise for you. You will explore the impact of the water bottle, have a conversation with it and create design questions you might have never asked before. πΏπ‘
4- Apply LCD with purpose
In the last module of the course, you will create your own manifesto, which will function as your guiding principles for your work as a designer. You will learn how to, among other things, use the manifesto to apply Life-Centered Design to your work, onboarding your colleagues, leadership and clients step-by-step to this new design approach. π±ππ«
